Ramallo Racing – where each horse is unique
In order for each individual to be able to perform at the top of their ability, individually tailored training and care is required, which is something we focus a lot on in our daily work with the horses. The hard and careful work that has been done in previous years has so far resulted in a total of 100 winners and a total win percentage of 14% before the 2023 season starts. In recent years, the horses have raced in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Dubai.
Goals and hopes going forward is to be able to add bigger races and more countries to that list, as well as to expand the business both in the number of horses and horse quality to be able to maintain a high and competitive level.
Ricardos background
“I grew up on a racetrack in Cordoba, Argentina. I moved to Buenos Aires as 16-year-old and worked at one of the three big racetracks, Palermo, in the capital. As 20-year-old I moved to Sweden to continue to work with the thoroughbreds. For instance, I worked for some of the leading trainers in Sweden before I got my own professional trainer license in 2009. The first years I only had a few horses on the training list, but the amount have increased over the years. Since the move into Jägersro racecourse I have rent a stable with 15 boxes, where we welcome both existing and new owners.”
Ricardo competed as an amateur rider with a result of 14 wins from 83 races and thus a winning percentage of 14% during the years 2006 to 2011, before he took the step and got his professional training license. It started with a few horses on the training list which, after a few active years, started to grow.
From the start up to the end on 2020 we rented a stable on a farm close to Jägersro. After a less lucky year 2020 we took the decision to rent a stable at Jägersro racecourse where the business is now conducted.
The stable
The stable we are renting, located at Jägersro racecourse in Malmö, have 15 boxes with the possibility of renting more if needed. We also have fresh, nice rooms on top of the stable where we can invite the horse owners.
The facilitates at Jägersro racecourse includes for instance:
-
1460 m dirt racetrack which is also used for training
-
1800 m cushiontrack for training
-
About 700 m dirttrack in easy uphill for training
-
A walker with roof and place for 6 horses
-
Round pens with different surfaces
-
Sand paddock close to the stable, and a grass paddock
To be able to reach our goal and hopes, all people in the team around the horses is very important for us. A great commitment and interest in each horse well-being is prioritized. For instance, the horses receives massage, electromagnetic impulses therapy and treatments from an equine physiotherapist both when needed and in advance to prevent injuries, so that they as elitsport performers gets the best possible chance to perform of the top of their ability.
